Your doctor may recommend a colposcopy if your pap test has shown abnormal results.
Colposcopy is a procedure to closely examine your cervix, vagina and vulva for signs of disease. A vulvar colposcopy examines lesions on the vulva and is often used to identify abnormal, precancerous conditions, and cervical cancer. If any abnormal cells are noticed, a biopsy of the tissue mostly likely will be completed.
